Location of the National Surfing Centre Fistral Beach Newquay Cornwall
The National Surfing Centre is the only Surf school actually based on the beach, located in the International Surf Centre building,
Fistral Beach (North end), Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1HY.
Fistral beach has long been associated with surfing and is thought of as Cornwall’s Mecca for the sport. It has been home to all the UK’s most major surfing competitions including the International A.S.P. event that attracts surfers and crowds from all over Europe and the world.
Fistral is renowned for its consistent and high quality waves. The north end is suited to the more experienced surfer, especially at low-tide where the sand banks provide punchy, sucky and hollow peaks. The middle and south end are more suited for the less experienced surfer, with gentler and smaller surf as a rule.
When conditions become a little too strong at Fistral we run lessons over in Newquay bay, where waves are weaker. Ninety percent of the time lessons in the summer run at Fistral, where the best waves are found on the North Cornwall coast.
